Exactly, I was referencing the VanillaOS install. I’m setting up a VM soon to test the waters 100%

Thats rad, but I’m not trying to be a dick at all. I’m quite active as I want to see Lemmy do well and the fact everytime someone says something about a lack of threads their account is also a lurker. Regardless, glad you’re here and getting down with comments for sure!

I mostly agree but with your account only adding two post to lemmy, increasing the post on your end would be a great first step to fix the issue.

I did a good while back, fuck allowing Reddit to build a profile about me without breaking down what I’m cool with them collecting. Libreddit all damn day if get an itch to peep the front page

AppImageLauncher is the move if you use any app images for sure! Super sweet it’s ready to rock on install with VanillaOS

There’s a bit of a learning curve to dial in all the stuff you regularly do with windows on a linux based OS. But by making your daily driver a linux based machine you’ll be kind of forced to figure it out. Took me maybe a month to fully get each little thing setup but now I have more versatile resources to handle the same tasks. Worth it alone to stop the invasive tracking by Microsoft to me. Plus with all the easily accessible open sourced software available in linux, I now often wonder what took me soo long to drive in

Hows VanillaOS compare to Fedora/Nobara for school? I work + take courses at the college and 99% of the time Fedora works wonderfully. The only issue I’ve ran into is using Respondous Lockdown Browser as it has to be done with a VM and they don’t like VMs whatsoever

Wasn’t working yesterday for me either, https://libreddit.domain.glass is working at least 🤷‍♂️

Ya, I stay up to date with my software but seems like F-Droid maybe a bit behind . Thankfully reinstalling the app has it functioning again just fine and dandy!

I signed out and back in yet still had the issue. In reinstalling Jebora though all things seem to be back to normal. Thank you kindly for the assistance!

Thank you! Not sure why I waited soo long to due the basic fix approach. But in reinstalling Jebora I have access to comments again! Many thanks

I’m not sure where to find the language setting in the app, clicking through the settings now and I haven’t seen the option. The error message I receive when trying to read messges is “Value Query of type java.lang.String cannot be converted to JSONObject”. Does this match up with the issue being due to the language setting?

Is a Jebora Update Planned?
I'm curious if anyone knows how things are looking for the app. Since the most recent update to Lemmy there's been no ability to read or send comments/messages. Is anyone else having this issue or is this just on my end? If I was more comfortable coding, I'd offer to help but I'd be a liability than anything. Yet, I'm wondering if utilizing something like perplexity.ai or chatGPT (ideally open-assistant in the near future) could make app updates an easier on the team.

iStaunch will send you the chegg answer if you send them a question. Open Free Chegg Answers by iStaunch on your phone, enter the question + your email and they’ll send to you the answer within 30 minutes.

I enjoy perplexity.ai as it doesn’t require an account and doesn’t recall previous sessions. It’s built on OpenAI yet it’s not open sourced. To quote the founder of StabilityAI, the “toughest part of open chatGPT creation (aside from millions of bucks for RL bit) is the governance aspect…The nice thing is once all the blood sweat and tears go into creating the models and frameworks they can proliferate like crazy as a new type of dev primitive.”

There is are a few options on GitHub which could use help though. OpenAssistant, trlX, and PaLM + RLHF seem to have the most potential. Hopefully there will be a few options in the not to distant future.

After reading Data and Goliath: The Hidden Battles to Collect Your Data and Control Your World by Bruce Schneier. The book blew my mind and made me rethink my internet usage. Also, seeing how much money is made off data sales without true consent or any consideration to pay the individual for their data being sold, I began the journey. It’s a marathon as it takes a good while and it’s consistently evolving but well worth the effort!

Seeing it’s only for paying enterprise accounts it makes way more sense. Average users will not have access to encryption, only business accounts. Google doesn’t want the liability of knowing their discussions so it’s all just marketing BS right now unfortunately.

Fosstodon.org is great as well as techhub.social if you’re looking for good servers related to tech. I use fediscience.org as my server though, its more up my alley plus I can still access fosstodon and techhub.

Have you looked into OpenAI’s Whisper translation tool?! Its the best TTS and translation tool I’ve found. Highly recommend giving it a try:
